What is
Scrying?
Scrying is the ancient practice of focusing
attention through the gazing into of mirrors, crystal balls,
water, crystals, etc. as a means of attaining an altered state.
Typically while in this altered state, the viewer, or Scryer,
taps into visions or insights of the past, future, or current
events. This has long been typically associated with "magic" or
a mystical experience. In truth, yes, it is mystical in the
sense that all human unseen abilities, time, God, and the
wonders of the complexities of the universe are mystical. This
may come as a surprise, but almost anyone can scry. Can we call
a talent that anyone can experience or manifest magic? We could
really spend some time debating that one!
In reality, the Scryer is tapping into
abilities that all human beings have to one degree
or another. In some, these abilities are inherently stronger
and naturally more pronounced, but everyone has the ability to
tap into these talents through mediation, contemplation, and
focused thought. Scrying is just another in a long list of
psychic abilities all human beings are capable of manifesting.
Scrying is a practice to achieve a an altered or trance state,
quelling the noise of the conscious mind and allowing the
higher self and the unconscious to be accessed. Most typically,
this is used to see glimpses of possible future events.
There lies another topic which we could speak
about at length. Many believe that the future, or visions of
the future are not graved in stone. Typically. I believe,
insights or glimpses of the future are glimpses of
possibilities or probabilities. The
idea being that the future consists of potential events, that
our destiny while strongly pushed in a certain direction, are
still to be decided and can be altered by our actions and
choices. Books have been written about this stuff, so far be it
for me to pontificate in a paragraph about the nature of time,
space, and the material universe. A bit of food for thought
will do for now.
